COOKIE POLICY

This Policy explains the use of cookies and technologies for storing or accessing information on devices on metzzo’s website, applications and digital services (collectively, the “Platform”). It should be read together with metzzo’s Privacy Policy, Legal Notice and Terms and Conditions.

metzzo keeps this Policy up to date in line with the technologies actually used on the Platform. Cookies or technologies for analytics, advertising or other non-essential technologies that require consent will not be activated before that consent is obtained.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?

Cookies are small files or pieces of information that a website can store or access in the User’s browser or device. They allow, for example, a session to be maintained, security measures to be applied, a requested preference to be remembered or, where consent has been given, the use of a service to be measured.

Mobile applications may use mechanisms that are technically different from a traditional cookie, such as local storage, session identifiers, tokens, SDKs, device identifiers or other equivalent technologies. This Policy uses the expression “cookies and similar technologies” to refer collectively to these mechanisms when they are subject to equivalent information or consent requirements.

Not every technology stored on a device requires consent. Technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the User or to enable a communication may be used without prior consent in cases that are legally exempt.

2. WHAT DOES metzzo CURRENTLY USE?

Under metzzo’s current configuration, the Platform does not use product analytics tools such as Firebase Analytics or Amplitude and does not use behavioral advertising or marketing cookies or technologies.

metzzo uses or may use technical technologies that are strictly necessary for the Platform to operate, including to maintain sessions, authenticate Users, protect the service, prevent misuse, manage or protect traffic and retain preferences requested by the User.

metzzo’s infrastructure uses Cloudflare for hosting, database, storage and security services. The sign-in flow may use Mailgun for email authentication communications and Google or Apple when the User chooses those sign-in methods. The involvement of these providers does not, in itself, mean that metzzo uses analytics or advertising cookies.

metzzo currently uses Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap for certain mapping features. Access to the device’s location, where applicable, is managed through system permissions and is governed primarily by the Privacy Policy. An application’s location permission should not automatically be confused with consent to cookies.

3. CATEGORIES OF COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

3.1. Technical or strictly necessary

These are necessary for the Platform to operate and to provide features requested by the User. They may include mechanisms for sessions, authentication, security, fraud or abuse prevention, technical traffic management, retention of cookie choices and preferences expressly requested by the User.

Where they fall within the applicable legal exemptions, they do not require consent. metzzo provides information about them for transparency.

3.2. Preferences or personalization

These allow certain User choices to be remembered, such as language, interface settings or other preferences. When the person expressly chooses the feature and the technology is used exclusively to provide that requested personalization, it may be exempt from consent. If metzzo were to use information to personalize on its own initiative and that use were not exempt, consent would be requested where applicable.

3.3. Analytics or measurement

These allow use of the Platform, such as visits, interactions, navigation or performance, to be measured and analyzed in order to obtain statistics and improve the service.

metzzo does not currently use Firebase Analytics, Amplitude or any equivalent product analytics tool. If analytics technologies requiring consent are implemented in the future, they will remain disabled until the User accepts them, and this Policy will be updated before they are activated.

3.4. Advertising or marketing

These allow advertising to be managed, campaigns to be measured or profiles to be created to display advertisements based on interests or behavior.

metzzo does not currently use behavioral advertising or marketing cookies or technologies. If they are introduced in the future, information about their purposes, third parties, duration and other required details will be provided beforehand, and they will not be activated before consent where it is necessary.

3.5. Third-party technologies

Certain features may involve third-party services. When a third party installs or reads technologies on a device, its processing and the need for consent will depend on the specific technology, its purpose and the configuration actually used. The mere involvement of an external provider does not automatically make a technology necessary or imply that it requires consent.

5. CONSENT AND PREFERENCE MANAGEMENT

When metzzo uses non-exempt cookies or technologies, it will request consent before installing or using them. Consent must be freely given, informed and unambiguous and will be obtained through an affirmative action.

The options to accept and reject non-essential cookies will be offered at the same time, at the same level and with equivalent visibility and ease of use. Non-essential categories will be disabled by default. Mere inactivity, pre-ticked boxes or continued browsing will not be considered consent.

Where there are cookies or technologies subject to consent, the User may withdraw or change their consent at any time as easily as it was given, through the settings mechanism provided by metzzo.

Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. metzzo may retain the information necessary to demonstrate and respect consent preferences for a proportionate period.

6. MANAGEMENT THROUGH THE BROWSER AND DEVICE

The User can delete or block cookies through their browser settings. Deleting or blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent certain features, such as sign-in, from working correctly.

In mobile applications, certain permissions - such as location or notifications - are managed through iOS or Android settings. These permissions are not necessarily cookies and are also explained in the Privacy Policy.

Browser and operating system settings paths and options may change over time. metzzo therefore recommends consulting the official, up-to-date help for the browser or device used.

7. THIRD PARTIES

Third-party services integrated into metzzo may process information under their own terms when acting as independent controllers. metzzo configures its integrations so that non-essential technologies subject to consent are not activated before consent is obtained where required.

The use of Cloudflare, Mailgun, Google, Apple, Apple Maps or OpenStreetMap as providers or services does not mean that all their technologies are cookies or that all require consent. Classification depends on the specific technology, its purpose and the configuration actually used.

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

metzzo may update this Policy when the technologies used, providers, regulations or the criteria of the competent authorities change. The current version will indicate the date of the latest update.

If a change involves starting to use non-essential cookies or technologies requiring consent, metzzo will update the relevant information and obtain consent before activating them.
